    2. Hi Jackie, Charles M. Broadwater married Bunnetta Beck Gray of GA. Their marriage took place on October 12, 1854 in Russell Co., AL. She was born May 2, 1834. Her father's name was possibly Noah Gray(an uncle?) and he witnessed their marriage. Noah was supposedly born in SC, as was Charles and Bunnetta. This is as far back as I can go!!! Thanks Nancy

    2. Hello All, Just a note to those who have been searching for info about Cornelius Broadwater, who migrated from england. Even though i havent verified his being there, I found it interesting that near Godelming, there is a park located on property that used to be privately owned then donated as a park. The name of the park just happens to be Broadwater Park On the property, there used to be a manor house which has since been razed. My connection in England will inform me of any further news on this and i will in turn keep you informed GOOD LUCK ALL STEVE SIMPSON P.S. Cornelius Broadwater was my 7th ggfather

    2. If anyone is looking for decendants of the Cornelius Broadwater family, there is a paper (over 50 pages) now out of print written by Wayne Bittinger in 1988. It is titled "A Broadwater Family History." It can be found in the Ruth Enlo library in Grantsville, Maryland, or the Fairfax Historical Society in Fairfax, Virginia. It may also be at the Balch Library in Leesburg, Virginia. It is for reference only but you can copy it. I have a copy of it and I also have the Amos Broadwater paper. The Wayne Bittinger paper is excellent and has documentation of his research. Cornelius had a brother, Charles, who moved south and that's all anybody knows.

    3. Nancy, Who was he married to. There are numerous Charles Broadwaters & not all have the middle initial. Many came out of the VA/MD area. All those boundries changed at different times, plus by 1850 there was the Civil War, numerous floods, courthouses burning etc. etc. That's what makes the searches so difficult or else old paperwork is buried & not catelogued & towns want to throw this old documentation out; we don't have funds to deal with it, blah, blah, blah. If I can get a spouse or child then maybe we will have something to go on even if it's not recorded in SC or Bama. It's somewhere. I can search LDS files to my hearts content, if I have the time, just need other people to tie them in. 3. -- Nancy, I checked out your webpage and downloaded the Broadwater info. Thanks to much for doing it. It's beautifully presented. Now for a question. I was hoping to find the Broadwater that I need, but didn't find her. She's Emma Broadwater who was married to Samuel Ervin. They lived in Copiah Co., MS and I was hoping that some of the SC Broadwaters got themselves to MS as my Seale and Phillips ancestors did. Emma Broadwater was born ca. 1856 in MS according to the census. She died 25 Dec. 1935, probably in Copiah Co., MS. Samuel Ervin was born ca. 1849 in MS, according to the census, and is buried in Copiah Co., MS. Do you have anything on this Emma Broadwater? Many thanks. 2. Hi Emma, I can sure understand why you want to locate your namesake. At the moment, I dont have any information on the family moving on to Tx; my BROADWATERs' stayed in Alabama, but my immediate family moved to St Louis in 1963. I have never heard stories of any of the older generations moving on to Texas, sorry. Hope you find them!!! Nancy Broadwater Walsh

    2. Hi Jackie, I have been searching, literally, for years for my g-g-grandfather, Charles M. Broadwater. He was born October 10, 1827, possibly in SC. He did reside in Edgefield, SC(Edgefield District) until around 1850 when he is listed in the census for Russell County, Alabama. When he resided in Edgefield, SC, he lived with a Gilchrist family, which has proven very hard to research. As of yet, I have not found a marriage connection to the Gilchrist family and I am going crazy trying to find Charles' parents, siblings, anything. I have information on him after he migrated to Alabama, but nothing prior to 1850. Cant wait to hear from you and thanks so much for offering to help. Take care, Nancy Broadwater Walsh
