Author: PaulineAdams12 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.broadhurst/291.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: It seem rather strange how some families within your trees do not move for centuries staying in a very small area of the country for two or three hundred years. Others wander about all over the world, my Broadhursts seem to have this wanderlust, this ambition for a better life which spurred them on. My Broadhursts (that is the ones I have traced so far started off in Derbyshire/Cheshire 18th Century working in the bleach mill and calico works, moving out off the countryside to the towns (Oldham/Ashton ) and to the Cities (Manchester) into the mills some stayed until the beginning of the 20th Century. Whilst others moved to Indiana in the 1830's Australia in the early 1900's and one who went gold mining in Alaska. Fantastic stuff, better than fiction any day.
