I charted this out, to try to make visual sense of it, and came up with the following: 1-William Brodhurst (Lilleshall, Shropshire, England) 2-Hugh Brodhurst (b.?,d. 1659) - (remained in England?) 2-Walter Brodhurst (b. 1619, d.?) - (born in England? Came to Virginia as adult?) 3-Elisabeth (b.?, d.?) 3-Walter, Jr. (b.?, d.?) 3-Gerrard (b.?, d.?) Do you have any other information about any of them? I do not understand the connection between Gerrard, above, and the reference to Sydney Gerrard? Do you know if Gerrard was a m or f? Is the assumption that Gerrard was named after Sydney, i.e., was Gerrard her maiden name? Is there a known connection between the above family and John Brodhurst? Does anybody else on this maillist have any other information that would be helpful? He was son of William Brodhurst of Lilleshall, in Shrepshire, England. This Shire joins the east border of Wales. Walter Brodhurst, born 1619, of Westmoreland Co., Virginia, was a brother to Hugh. Walter was married to Ann, and their children were Elisabeth, Walter Jr., and Gerrard. (Gwynn records show that Sydney Gerrard was the wife of Sir John Gwynne-Wynne of Gwydir Castle, in Wales). John Brodhurst's will of 1701 bequeathed property "at Hoesfield, near Macksfield, in County of Chester in England." (This county is near the northeast corner of Wales, near Liverpool). Melanie
