    2. Many thanks for the information. I will put this on my "to do" list.... [email protected] on 09/21/98 08:47:59 PM To: Art Broadhurst/HQ/UIMC cc: Subject: Re: [BROADHURST-L] Re: BROADHURST/BROADUS; LEI, ENG; 1700-1850 The reference for Hugh and John Brodhurst was Stanard's "Some Emigrants to Virginia." My relatives do not know who Edward Broaddus' parents or other relatives besides his descendants were, so we were wondering if Hugh and John might be. The connection that we thought of with the name "Gerrard, " was that Dolly Gwynn's family was from Wales, and Sir John Gwynne-Wynne of Gwydir Castle in Wales had a daughter named Sydney Gerrard. One of my relatives thought that if they were related, and names get recycled in families, that Walter named his son Gerrard after hearing the name from that particular relative-all speculation. Other info: Walter Broadus, or Brodhurst, was Justice of Peace for many years in Wesmoreland Co., VA. Even though John Brodhurst, the Younger, disposed of this property (at Hoesfield), at his death in 1701, he is designated as "John Brodhurst of St. Albans, Wood St., London, but in Virginia, deceased." Since he was called "the Younger" in 1699, there must have been a John Sr., who was living in 1699. There was a John Brodhurst who was Sheriff of Accomack Co., Va., in 1708-1714. He patented land there in 1704. I don't have access to these, but the relative that compiled Broadus info for us suggests some Broadus reference books. They are: Burke's "Landed Gentry" edition no. 5 and Harleian Society Records, XXXVII, page 377, English records.
