In 1919 he donated a large piece of land (Broadhurst park & playing fields) in my local area to the people of the area on the provision that the only things that could be built on it would be a library, a school or park storage buildings. We have a copy of the covenant that covers these wishes but that hasn't stopped Manchester City council from giving a semi pro football club permission to build a football stadium on the land. After fighting this for over two years we finally had to admit defeat as in the end we were told because there were no relatives to contest it the local people didn't matter as the council were the guardians of this land and as such could do what they want. I would be very surprised if Sir Edward is not a relative somewhere along the line as Tootal Broadhurst is not a common name. I will try and dig out any information I have that may help you in making your connection, it is just a pity our paths didn't cross earlier. If I can find all the info we got together and it does prove a link with yourself would you be prepared to compose a letter objecting to the land your ancestor left being built on? I am not sure if it would do much good now but we are still trying to find ways to stop the construction of this stadium and it wouldn't do any harm to try.
