Dear Sylvia: First, apologies for not signing my emails. My email program (Lotus Notes) shows a nice header with my name and email address, but I guess it does not come through the internet that way. Or maybe I was using the MSN program and I did not think about how it comes through. Anyway I am Arthur G. Broadhurst ("Art"), 1046 22nd Avenue, Vero Beach FL 32960, and apparently am the last of my branch (since I have three grown daughters, no sons to carry on the name). My great-grandfather James BROADHURST (b. abt 1839) came from Ashby de la Zouch with the 17th British Regiment (based in Leicestershire) to Nova Scotia in 1859. He mustered out there and married Mary Ann Tracey (from where I do not know and am trying to track that down). His descendants (he was prolific, 10 children) lived in Canada and U.S. and I am having much difficulty tracking them down because they were bad recordkeepers and what I have I got from an elderly aunt before she died. I have mostly photographs with cryptic note on the back so it is difficult getting good data. The information I gave you previously about James' ancestors is based on information I received from Neil Broadhurst, a Canadian, who had enough information that allowed reasonable speculation that we were related - he is descended from Edward, and apparently I am descended from Edward's brother John, the speculation based on the premise that it was unlikely that there were two James Broadhurst's born born about 1839 in Ashby de la Zouch. Going about proving this, or at least getting something better than speculation, is what I am trying to accomplish now. So thanks for your info, and if you are interested I can send you the details that I have. Do you have a geneology tracking program, such as Family Tree Maker? If so, sending the information is easier..... Thanks, Art Broadhurst "Sylvia Murphy" <[email protected]> on 07/21/98 09:01:57 AM To: Art Broadhurst/HQ/UIMC cc: Subject: Re: BROADHURST in England >Thanks. That's helpful. My pleasure, & I have already re-thought the implications of some of my data; but firstly - who are you???? You never sign your name on the end of your emails!! Although I am still 99% certain that my Willshee/Broadhurst (Hammond) marriage took place at St Peters, Derby; I am coming to the conclusion that William, his sister Mary and ????? goodness knows who else, were only living there for a relatively short period (Mary married 1836, Wm 1838), they were certainly in Ashby for the 1841 census. I have now returned to the opinion that they were also from Ashby in the first place - it seems that Elizabeth Hammonds (nee Broadhurst) was born/bap 1806 daughter of Edward and Ann in Ashby. Anyway, it will need a bit more checking over a period of time - maybe Edward and your John, b.1799 were siblings??? Haven't got anything else to suggest at this stage I'm afraid. Regards. Sylvia
