I looked into the origins of Broadhurst Park in Moston, and learned he had no children. He did build a fair business though, and, ironically, my Dad bought his shirts and ties from 'Tootal' a few years back, before the company was sold. There is also a wonderful old building on Oxford St named Churchgate House. It has the Tootal Broadhurst & Lee name in it's stone. However, given my surname, I've always been intrigued if he may be related in some way. He was born in Salford, and his father was born 1822 (Henry Tootal Broadhurst). The 'Tootal' part from the christening records released by Manchester Council, is cited as the middle name for Edward and his father. However, going back prior to 1850 is sketchy with records to link back on the Broadhurst side. The family name origin's were Macclesfield / Cheshire for the Northern Broadhursts. If you have any history on the Broadhurst side that's a bit firmer than any census records, please let me know.
