    1. [BROADHURST] Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team If anyone has an interest in finding alternative communication possibilities and/or suggestions for alternatives, please send a note to the list to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: britany_sproul Surnames: Boardhuck, Broadhurst, Nichols, Nickols, Nicholds Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.broadhurst/324/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm researching an Isabella Broadhurst (Ilica Boardhuck in her marriage record), who married a John Nichols in 1822. They were both born about 1805 and he died approx 1854. They were married in Howard, Missouri, and then moved on to Ray County, Missouri from there. I have land records for John Nichols in Ray County, Missouri and a probate record listing family members who wanted part of his estate. But no children are listed. Looking to discover if they had any children. Also, did he serve in the military? In researching John, I've found military records for a John Nichols over in Richmond, Missouri about 4 years after they move to Ray County, from April 1828-April 1835, first at Jefferson Barracks and then in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Is this the same John Nichols? Any clues you have to add to my Isabella Broadhurst and John Nichols' story would be helpful. Thanks! 3. A neighbor of mine, with early Broadhurst roots in England, received the email below from her relative in England, and with her permission I reproduce it below in the hope that some persons on this list have a connection and can get in touch with her.... Art Broadhurst From: Reg and Pam Broadhurst Sent: Sunday, January 18, 2015 10:39 AMTo: crowlinson@att.netSubject: broadhurst genealogy Dear Lyn Yesterday I posted to you some photocopied letters and family trees originally sent to Reg by a cousin of his, (Mrs E.B. Taylor, nee Barbara Pearson ) some years back. They may be of interest to your neighbours. I apologize for the pieces of paper stuck in a couple of places where the photocopier missed bits. I have 2 further sheets of Broadhursts from Great Sankey (near Warrington) assembled by the same Tony Broadhurst mentioned in the letters. However, there is no further information on them beyond names and dates of birth. I could send them to you if they were thought to be of interest. 50 years ago there were very few Broadhursts in the telephone book for South Manchester. Today there are a lot more but I don’t know any of them, except my daughter-in-law . If Art is bitten by the genealogy bug I could send photocopies or copy emails of a letter by him to people in this area to see if any of them are genealogists and could provide information. Love from Pam.

I have changed Internet servers. Now paulboland4@bigpond.com. The tucker girls my great aunts were lovely women. I often visited them as I lived just north of Rocky at Marlborough. Uncle Tom often would give me a bun to eat when I was a border at the Rocky Grammar. I have since met another cousin Gary Tucker who has a treasure trove of old photos of the Tuckers from Carawal. If you get to read this post it would be nice to hear from you. My email is as written above. I am a grand child of Emma Butcher nee Tucker born in Mount Morgan. By the way I have a treasured photo of the young Tucker girls if you would like a copy some time. Gary Tucker has two photos one of Sarah Tucker nee Broadhurst and William Tucker her husband. Lots of important family history here especially on Trove the collection of early news papers which is accessible on the Internet. You will find the accounts of the horrific voyage of the Sailing Ship Hannah! More that Sarah Broadhurst sister and brother immigrated to Moreton Bay. It is a wonder the family made it.
