    3. Dear Listers, While trying to track down descendants of Joseph & Esther Emanuel (late of London), I came across an interesting marriage for an Irene H.R. Emanuel to Maureen Boxer (Lambeth Q2 1945). Is this a gay marriage or a mistake? I don't think that I have ever heard of Irene being a boys' name or Maureen for that matter. Any thoughts on this oddity. Miriam Pollak Melbourne, Australia Working on Plashet Cemetery

    3. There is a birth shown on Free BMD in June qtr 1946 for BOXER Phillippa H Mother surname Emanuel Marylebone 1a 713 which makes Maureen Boxer the father. Cannot think of male replacement for Maureen. Perhaps a mistake was made on the marriage certificate which was later corrected with a new certificate but the actual record was not amended. Would love to know the result of this enquiry!!
