    3. Cynthia I think you might be onto something -if it has NZ connections- my great, great, great grandfather was a Lyon Solomon about 1780 to 18-7-1858 born in Moorfields but living all his life in London and I have his death certificate 18-7-1858 in Southwark , London. He was also in some records known as Yehuda , I think and I had thought his marriage in great Synagogue records was that of 14-8-11 but have not been able to substantiate brides name in 1841 Census records- you will find family recorded as Salaman and Solomons also.He had 7 children - 3rd son Henry went via what is now Port Elizabeth South Africa to NZ with at least 3 of his children after the death of his wife(1863) nee Frances Myers whom he married 16-8-1843. He was a furniture dealer and auctioneer. The children seem to have ended up in Christchurch Joseph 1848-1887 never married died of typhoid, there was also an Esther 1844-1927,Matilda ( Millie) 1851- to ?1915 and Elizabeth 1850-1940 . I found quite a lot about them in NZ records and NZ newspapers all on the web, Henry has a lot about him as he was found drowned in Wellington Harbour -21-10-1869 and there was an inquest all in subsequent Wellington papers Have found your 1807 marriage - I wonder if my Lyon Solomon was the son of your one or evn thye same person - would be interested to hear from you as had come to a dead end with their early history . I live in UK . I would be most interested in anyone who can help - online family trees with both these individuals are thin on the ground. cheers Cynthia (New Zealand) researching HART, NATHAN, BARNARD, VANDERLYN, SOLOMONS, LEVY Our website is at www.british-jewry.org.uk We update regularly.
