Cynthia, London coroners' inquest reports are pretty thin on the ground. There is a good run for the City of London (from 1788), the ancient borough of Southwark (1788-1932), and the City of Westminster (1760-1880), but not much else. Survival depends on the date and on the Coroner's District, which is given in column 7 of the death certificate and is not the same as the civil registration district. If you can post the details from the certificate (or email them to me, if you prefer), it will be easier to advise. Otherwise, as Sherry suggests, the newspapers may be the way to go, always assuming the death was a 'newsworthy' one.
