Dear Listers, I am sure that I am not the only person who has noticed that many modern (1980s onwards) birth records only have the mother's surname and no information about the father - must be single mother's which, for some reason, I have lots in my family. Does anyone know how to find the mother's full name so that the child can be placed with a mother in my family tree? Added to the complication, I have two births, a year and a half apart, where the two children are named exactly the same (I have checked for deaths, but there is none).
