Dear Listers I am researching the American descendants of Benjamin HART ( tailor/clothier - 7 Holywell St at his death -dob unknown - died circa 1836 London - my 4x great grandfather) through his son Michael Hart 1802- 1861 who married Frances Davis 1814-1878 died NY. This family line appear in the American Jewish Stern Collection- American First Families. Michael and his family were in Lynchburg VA until the Civil war and then moved to NY. The children of Michael and Frances were: Henry b1832 Lynchburg;George b1834 Lynchburg;David b 1836 Lynchburg m Rosalie SOHER;Benjamin b1838;Lewis b1842 Lynchburg;Sarah 1847-1889 died France;Alfred 1848-1864 died NY. Phil, I'll see what I can find on the census records. The local JGSGW is going to Richmond VA in October and I'll see what I can find there. Do you know anything more about them? I've been doing a lot of work in the NY City municipal records although you have to go up to NY to look at them efficiently (The LDS has the indices on microfilm but you have to order the film from Salt Lake City at $5.50 a film, and the films each cover only a few months). Were they in NY City?
