Both Angela and Judy have contacted me and given me some more ideas. I had an Esther LEVY marriage to a Nathan around the 1835 mark in London, Angela found me a marriage to a Joseph NATHAN in 1835 father Simon to a Esther LEE father Isaiah Halevi. Esther's father was Joshua which is often the English version of Joshua and other LEVY children had the father as Isaiah Halevi, so reasonably confident that Esther Levy married Joseph NATHAN. Esther had 2 children before 1841, Louisa and Frances born approx. 1836 and 1838, with her on the census in 1841 and 1851, stating she was still married but no husband on either census or any relevant death. I then found a Joseph NATHAN transported to Tasmania in Jun 1838 for stealing, convicted Jan 1838. There is an index of a Frances NATHAN born Q4 1838 Whitechapel so if it is the youngest daughter mentioned in first paragraph, then she could just have been Joseph's daughter if born in September and Registered in October or not any relative at all. I was kindly given some information from Judy that stated a Joseph NATHAN had married Eliza McDermott in 1852 Launceston and had 2 children, Fanny and Michael NATHAN born 1853 and 1855 respectively. I then clicked on another Joseph NATHAN and there was I think the same Joseph but earlier, married to Susan Allgate in 1846 (the year Joseph got his certificate of Freedom, though don't know where from) Launceston, with 3 children Simon, Rachael and Sarah born 1846, 1848, 1850. If it is the Joseph NATHAN I hope it is then his father was Simon NATHAN, his mother was I think Sarah and he had a sister called Rachael and a brother called Michael, seems quite a coincidence. I am not asking anyone to agree with my but does anyone know if you can look up the deaths on line similar to NSW or Victoria and you can order the death certificate which normally states the mother and father of the deceased. Judy gave me the death of 1866 but I tried but can't find out where to get any death certificates. There is also a census available for Joseph NATHAN, but no details on line. I have sent off for the Marriage Certificate of what I believe is Joseph NATHAN's first daughter called Louisa (also one of his sister's names), if I am wrong and her father is not Joseph at all at least I have had Fun and learnt a bit more and I think that is what counts! Again any help would be great Debbie Bozkurt in Outer Hebrides I
