Hi I grew up in Eton, my parents had an antique shop in the High Street in the 70's and 80's. To the best of my knowledge there wasn't a formal community there and I remember my uncle (from North London) always asking why we lived out in sticks! I don't recall the shop you mention, was it up near the bridge? given you say the garden lead to the river. Thanks for bringing back some childhood memories!
