Dear Brian, I found a dove Nunes Martines ( in the announcement) in the JC in 1883 sending thanks for condolences on the death of her sister Hannah Nunes Martinez ( with a z). There are several Dove Martines in the Nunes Martines tree an I am still trying to work out which one this is. My mother said she had a Sephardi Aunt Dovie who had a girls finishing school in Spain, but I have recently found the Martines sisters had a school in Gravesend to which my great grandmother Sarah Abendana was sent. I will try to findout more about Simon Davis as very often they intermarried and he could have had a relative Clara who he introduced to his wife's family. thnk you for that.
