The shul survived until the mid-1970's. I actually remember attending a service there in about 1973. I recall opening a prayer book and seeing it dated from the opening of the synagogue in 1860 since it contained the prayer for Prince Albert, the Prince Consort, and Edward Prince of Wales. I also seem to rememeber a plaque in memory of the Jewish soldiers who died in the Boer War 1902. By the early 1970's there were few Jews living in the Cheetham Hill area. Sadly after the synagogue closed the building was left to decay and the lead thiefs and vandals soon left it in such a dangerous state it had to be demolished. A sad end.
