Hi Listers I would be interested in identification of the men in this photograph as one of them could be Joseph COHEN, husband of my g g g aunt Naomi COHEN JP. Joseph COHEN was president of the congregation around 1903 of the Belgrave St Synagogue Leeds. He was on the Board of Guardians in Leeds. I have 1 photograph of Naomi - but no photographs of Joseph so am hoping that someone out there can identify him in the photogaph. In the Jewish Chronicle of 9 September 1932 there is an article in which the Leeds Board of Guardians congratulates Naomi COHEN on her appointment as a Justice of the Peace for Leeds. The following names are mentioned which might be of use to someone: Mr Stanley LIGHTMEN - treasurer Mr W KRISTALL - chairman Mr J GILLINSON Maurice STROSS I GOLDMAN S NATHAN Gerald COHEN L LIGHTMAN B ELLIS JW FOX The Jewish Chronicle of 29 June 1934 published a photograph of Naomi Cohen as one of the Prominent Jewish Communal Workers in Leeds but I was unable to obtain a copy of her photograph.
