Dear All In the 1891 census under a listing for my gguncle, there is a name of Jetty CHERNOSKY - aged 24 - cap maker - born in Poland(c.1867) - sister. The address was 31 Church Street, Bethnal Green North. My uncle's name was listed as Marks TISHMAN(1862-1943) born Russia - his wife was listed as Fanny born Poland - however, she was actually known as Betsy/Biela/Elizabeth(1863-1939)and her maiden name was SUCHERT a.k.a SHACKETT - her mother was SCHANOWITZ. Betsy was born in Sulwaki and married Marks in Kovna/Kaunus. In the 1901 census it states they were both born in Russia and living at 1 Boundary Passage, Shoreditch with their surname listed as TESSMAN. There is no mention of Jetty. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who is searching the CHERNOSKY(sp) surname - the 1891 census info implies she was possibly Betsy's sister because of the mention of Poland, but then I suppose she could also be Marks sister!
