I did not go to the Chicago conference, but our local JGSGW is beginning planning for the conference in Washington and I'll mention these concerns to the committee. I do have two comments on Jill's comments: first, I've been to many conferences of lawyers, and it always happens that two programs I'd like to attend are scheduled at the same time. I assume it's very difficult to schedule programs so that those of interest to a particular person never conflict. Second, I'm sorry you had difficulty with the presenter's accent - and, assuming the speaker wasn't foreign born, admittedly there are some regional accents that we Americans from the northeast may find difficult to understand, but then, again, some of us have trouble with some of the British regional accents. As to the sports analogies, the same comment holds - many Americans are very interested in sports and references tend to find their way into most conversations - our Rabbi is a life-long Chicago White Sox (baseball) fan and manages to refer to the team often in the fall (when the baseball world Series is held). But I'm sure British speakers make references to cricket and soccer (rugby?) that we wouldn't fully appreciate. One can never accomplish all one wants to do at a conference but I hope, on the whole, you found the conference worthwhile and will plan to come to our conference in Washington.
