I suggest getting into the archives of The Era for people like Charles Solomon - there is a pianist whose name was given as Charles Salomon in 1843 in public recitals. There is also Charles Solomon who had the Juvenile Christy Group (whoever they might have been...could have been black and white minstrels). I don't know if The Era has been digitised yet through the British Library, but it is certainly available through inter-library loan in NSW from the University of NSW, as well as through the Gale newspaper archives which can perhaps be accessed by subscription, libraries or contact them and see if there are any freebies about....it seems variable whether people succeed or not in getting free access. It is possible that he performed using different names according to genre....people who turned up in the music halls as serio-comics needed another identity for more serious pursuits.
