    1. [BRITISH-JEWRY] musical scandal of Ted Solomon
    2. Mrs Mansefield
    3. On re reading some of my research material I wonder if there may have been two men called Charles SOLOMON both pianists, in London in the mid 1800's. I have one who died in 1890 aged 73 (not 1873 like Bea's). He had a son Theodore (Ted, whereas Bea is looking for Fred). Ted Solomon was embroiled in a classic love scandal of the theatre involving the diva Lillian Russell in 1894. He was a comic singer, and she divorced him in order to marry her tenor Signor Perugini, a black haired, black eyed lothario who in fact was born in London with the pedestrian name of John Chatterton. Her grounds for divorcing poor Ted were that he was still married to his previous wife, a Miss ISAACS, living in London. Miss Russell had previously been married to Harry BRAHAM of the English Jewish musical family. The death of Theodore's father "veteran musician" Charles Solomon was reported in The Era, as well as the Boston newspapers. It will take some untangling these Solomons if there are two of them, and their musical compositions as they both seem to have been prolific. The Casino Theatre in NY that inherited some of Charles' stuff may be a clue if there is an archives somewhere. Ann Jensen
