Hi Luana ... I have printed out a message about JACOBS dated 4/3/2008 in the British Jewry Archives. There are quite a few names which seem to match with mine. I have a Jacob Jacobs born 1857 Davinsk, Russia died 1914 Australia. He was naturalised in England about 1878 and went to South African War in 1899. He married Hannah Klufeld in December 1887 Mile End Old Town, Middlesex, London. (First marriage to Alfred Freeman/Friedman?) Hannah was my great grandmother and Jacob was her second husband. He may have been married before also, as the children were Isaac Charles (abt 1882), Harry (bef 1887), Sophie (15/6/1888) Deborah (1890), Arthur Abraham (1893-1917 killed in war)) Solomon William (1896), David (3/3/1898) William Solomon. Emanual (Manny) (1899). They came to Australia about 1906. Hannah's first family included Mark born about 1880 (my grandfather) and I understand he changed his name to FREEMAN. There was also a daughter Rebecca and I think she was also FREEMAN. Mark eloped and married Rachel Jessie Schnitzer 23/10/1897 Registry Office Westminster, London and then again 21/11/1897 in a London Synagogue. I have a copy of both Marriage Certificates. They had Morris Isaac (3//6/1898) and Abraham (only known as Arthur) on 25/1/1901. They were "found" and I think separated by their parents and sent to a Jewish Boarding School (I do not know which one). I have lots of information as Arthur was my father and I now have eight great grandchildren. I really would like to fill in the gaps as I have been searching for about forty years.
