Re Rachel Poole's message on Bracha Levin's supposed birth in Swansea. Bracha is very like Brenda which was a common birth name amongst anglicised Hews in 1909-10. Equally Levin was sometimes changed to something more English, for example Lyons. I have come across the following birth in Swansea in 1909 quarter 3 (on one of the commercial sites where you can search for first name only):- LYONS Brenda Margaret Swansea District 11a Page 1229 Qtr3 1909 This may or may not be right, but it pays to think laterally as often one or both the first name and second name could change when officially registered. This happened multiple times in my family - I have an upcoming article in Shemot that will show this. There are a couple of LEVIN births in West Derby in the right time-frame. It might be worth writing to the registrar and asking for a check of the births registered to see if the mother is the right person. For this you need to send the money for one birth certificate (and postage) before they will search at Liverpool Registrar's Office.
