Thanks everyone for your emails and replies. Ann, The Era - is it possible for you to provide a website address for this org? Even better, is it possible for you to send me offline any obituaries for Charles in the Era or Boston newspapers at all? The only page todo with The Era I have been able to trace is one that talks about a cd rom from 1890 onwards. And the British Library did not come across The Era today. Just to confirm again, I made a mistake; Charles Solomon died in 1891, sorry for any confusion. The info on his son Edward Solomon - yes, there are a lot of websites about him, and also about Charles other son Frederick who was also in the music biz, but strangely hardly a thing about Charles. Sheila, One of the sons lived in America for a time and while there the son worked at that theatre in New York but I don't think Charles was connected with it in any way apart from the fact that his son worked there. The British Library only had books of song sheets, some were for Charles, some for his sons. But interestingly enough, some had title pages for the shows they came from, and most appear to be comical shows and musicals, rather than opera/classical performances for Charles. I have now also contacted the Royal Academy of Music. No record for Charles in the Grove's dictionaries of musicians. No record either in any microfishe Who's Who. Thank you everyone, I'm in the process of replying offline to you too! B.Shiel - London
