Thanks Sherry I think (based on the census being in April), that Charles/Isaac would have to be have been born between April 1844 and March 1845 which would rule out a couple of the ones you listed. But the two in Mar 1845 in Whitechapel seem like good candidates - marginally more likely, I think, than the Marylebone one from Dec 1844. So, on spec, I've ordered the birth certificate for the most likely one. I'm just not sure how I'm going to know if it's the one for the Isaac LEVY who later changed his name to LEWIS, since I don't have anything from his later life that gives any indication of his parent's names other than the names of his children (see my last post).
