    1. [BRITISH-JEWRY] musical career info wanted

    3. Dear British Jewry, after reading the post about the forgotten theatre actors, I too have a similar query: I've come across Charles Solomon (and his son Fred) in my family research and want to know more about Charles's career in the music industry. Charles was born in London in about 1820 and died in 1873, and for the bulk of his life lived in the Bloomsbury area. According to some census reports, he was a musical composer, others list him as a musician and/or a professor of music. His son Fred, was also one of these too! In Charles's Will, he left numerous pianos to the family, and other items to the Casino Theatre in New York. I have been to 3 local archives but Charles is not listed there nor in any musical company book, nor is he listed in the Encyclopedia Judaica. There is no article about his career in the JC either. If anyone out there knows more about Charles's musical career (and his son's) I would be very interested to know more. Thanks B.Shiel (London)

    3. Did you try the Times? - he may have featured in ads for concerts or even reviews. I have found a number of musicians this way. Keira Lockyer, Australia.
