    3. Hi Bea In the 18th and 19th centuries, there were Jewish communities in Southwark, Newington and Richmond upon Thames (formerly in the county of Surrey, now part of London). The following web links may be of use: 18th century Anglo-Jewry in Richmond: http://www.jewishgen.org/JCR-UK/Community/local_research.htm#richmond Congregation of Borough Synagogue (in Southwark) from 1823: http://www.jewishgen.org/JCR-UK/London/borough/index.htm Many individual references to Jews are found in sources such as Quarter Sessions (QS) records and Poor Law records which are often (usefully) indexed!. Surrey Poor Law records and QS records are held at Surrey History Centre in Woking (http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/surreyhistorycentre). Descriptions of entries in the 18th century QS records are listed on the Access to Archives (A2A) website which can be searched at http://www.a2a.org.uk/search/extended.asp. Type in a keyword (such as surname), select Surrey History Centre (Location of Archives) and type QS in Catalogue Reference. M Rosenbaum, this list gives the names which appear in the book. The aim is to help members check their names are in the book before travelling to view. This is available on the Hyamson Fiche. These are at the SOG and a few other libraries etc." Best wishes Sherry Landa (23170 Viersat, France)

My 2 x great grandfather Moss BENJAMIN is mentioned on pages 4, 11,14, 15, 20, 21, 24, 30 and 31 so it would be of great interest to me. Jacob Morris HARRIS is also a relative twice over.
