    1. [BRITISH-JEWRY] Putting down family tree
    2. To be honest, I dont try to give my grand children all the info. Only what is relevant to them personally and will encourage them to start exploring. To do this I used a cd. Your use of Dorot has always been a problem as you are a small minority in the UK. But one can get software that will create a website from an exported GEDCOM. I am assuming you can export either a gedcom or a website from Dorot? The website with its links is what you put on a CD. Kids have computers and understand about clicking on links, so they enjoy this sort of material. One can put on a small tree and then add as many images, photos and documents as might be of interest. be sure to name all the photos. Dorot tech people should be able to tell you of a program that will handle your Hebrew entries, but using HTML on a disc would make this easier, I imagine. You ask what other people do. I start with the child's direct ancestors, (for a younger child I only show the 16 great great grandparents.) plus the relatives they know, their aunts, uncles and their cousins. I kept the detail to a minimum - just showed major events, where the people lived and their occupation, plus a picture. Using a CD means there is no limit on images and you could add a folder of census images, if you wished. You could add anyone coming to the Bar Mitzvah and anyone famous or notable. I added young men killed in World War 1. For a family reunion I used the same method to hand on all my info and images about one particular family, but for a child, all you need to say is that, if they would like all one's information, they may ask for it. if you are worried that your complete work might be lost, you can add a complete GEDCOM export file to the same CD. I hope this is of help. Evelyn Wilcock London Genealogy site at http://members.aol.com/ecwilcock/
