Dear Sherry, sorry I didint make myself clear. I just wondered where I could best utilise and incoporate all the i nformation from the censuses as part of the printed out family tree, not how to put it down, or should i just keep it seperately for reference? I am now printing it out in box form and sticking the pages together, but i would like to make onelong roll if possible. I shall try to go to a quick copy shop and see what they suggest. Wioth bet wishes, Louise- Original Message ----- From: "Sherry with Sky" <SherryELanda@sky.com> To: <british-jewry@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 23, 2008 7:12 AM Subject: Re: [BRITISH-JEWRY] Putting down family tree > Dear Louise, > > I seem to remember you asking about Dorot before. Hi Louise, as far as i'm aware, the only way you could do your tree on one long continuous sheet of paper would be to use a dot matrix printer ( quality not so great ) which i believe is the only thing that will take continuous folded sheet paper right out of the box. dorot as far as i know is only of use for inserting jewish dates, you'd be far better off using a more conventional program that many others have used or use, so we can help you further, and then importing that data into dorot to get dates etc, just a thought and observation. regards Josev
Thank you Josev and everyone for your help. I have decided to do two things. One is to take a descendents Report going back with grandparents etc and adding photos, onto stiff paper and joining the pages ( about 10) in concertina form tape. I will insert photographs as well. the second is to make a CD with the whole tree as well as reports on separate families plus photos and my diary of my grandson's bartmizvah here and in Israel. Eventually I will extend all this in my book which I have already started writing. With many thanks foryoursuggestions, Louise ----- Original Message ----- From: "Josev" <jking44@ntlworld.com> To: <british-jewry@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 25, 2008 12:02 AM Subject: Re: [BRITISH-JEWRY] Putting down family tree > Hi Louise, > > as far as i'm aware, the only way you could do your tree on one long > continuous sheet of paper would be to use a dot matrix printer ( quality > not > so great ) which i believe is the only thing that will take continuous > folded sheet paper right out of the box. > > dorot as far as i know is only of use for inserting jewish dates, you'd be > far better off using a more conventional program that many others have > used > or use, so we can help you further, and then importing that data into > dorot > to get dates etc, > > just a thought and observation. > > regards > > Josev > > Our website is at > www.british-jewry.org.uk > We update regularly.
