Hi, Here's the mystery: On the documents I received from the archives in Latvia, it states that my greatgrandfather - Modechai Shmuel, was the son of Moshe Hirsch (and it wasnt just on one document, it was on about 5 or 6). On my ggrandfather's tombstone in Leeds it says: Mordechai son of Zeev Halevi. So now, I have to try and find documents from Leeds about my great grandfather Max (Moredchai) Kassemoff. I have been told that Max may have been a macher (Yiddish for : a doer) at Belgrave Street shul in Leeds, now no longer in existence, but superseded by Beth Hamedrash Hagadol synagogue (Street Lane). He died on 10 March 1939. Can anyone give me any help on this please? Where can I find records from either of those synagogues.
