Hi, Here's the mystery:  On the documents I received from the archives in Latvia, it states that my greatgrandfather - Modechai Shmuel, was the son of Moshe Hirsch (and it wasnt just on one document, it was on about 5 or 6).  On my ggrandfather's tombstone in Leeds it says: Mordechai son of Zeev Halevi.  So now, I have to try and find documents from Leeds about my great grandfather Max (Moredchai) Kassemoff.  I have been told that Max may have been a macher (Yiddish for : a doer) at Belgrave Street shul in Leeds, now no longer in existence, but superseded by Beth Hamedrash Hagadol synagogue (Street Lane).  He died on 10 March 1939.
