Eve, I'm curious to know where you discovered that Joseph Lazarus was a member of the Board of Deputies. The book "Lost Jews of Cornwall" mentions 14 other Lazarus's and Susser 13. Strangely neither mention Joseph. I suggest you try the other towns in the south-west, Plymouth, Penzance and Falmouth as being within travelling distance, the Jews moved around and intermarried between towns. Regards, David Liss.
