Hello, I have found a reference to a Golden Wedding in June 1950. The reference says "on Lag b'Omer" I am OK with b'Omer (of Omer). I looked it up on my Hebrew calendar see 49 days of Omer. My question is which day does Lag refer to, please? Thanks Sherry
It is the 33rd day of the Omer. Quoting from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lag_Ba'omer : < "Lag" is not a word. In ancient Hebrew, letters were used for numerals . . and the number 33 was therefore written with the letters "lamed" (L, value 30) and "gimel" (G, value 3), making up "Lag" (33). > It is a holiday on which the normal prohibitions of the Omer (wedings, parties etc) are suspended - hence why a Golden Wedding could be celebrated on that day.
