    3. Sorry to be pedantic (blame the teacher in me) but it wasn't all women over the age of 30. You had to be over thirty and on the local government register (ie be a rate-payer) or be married to a man who was. In this way the government thought they were delivering the vote to safe pairs of hands - married women who owned property or who were married to men who did, and who probably had children too and so would be likely to vote cautiously - not recklessly like younger, formr munitions workers.
