This is for Sherry Landa and others interested in SAPERIA in Leeds: My grandmother, Annie HARRIS WOLFE, and Fanny SAPERIA LEVINSON were lifeling friends; both were born in Leeds, and both married when they were about 16 in Leeds. Annie married Harry WOLFE. Fanny married Julius LEVINSON, AKA LIVINGSTONE. Julius was b. in Russia, but Fanny was b. in Leeds, in 1883 or 1884, although I can't find a birth record for her. [Her 1973 death record says she was b. in 1883.] They had their first son, Nathan, in Leeds in 1905, came to the US in 1908 [per the Census] and had Meyer and Sidney. Here is the Yorkshire bmb listing for the marriage; it's the only document that lists this marriage; neither the Rootsweb page nor JewishGen's supplemental index for Leeds has it: SAPERIA Fanny LIVINGSTONE Julius Old Central Hebrew Synagogue, Victoria Road, Leeds, 1901. SYN4/B/60 Julius' sister, Ettie, married David DONBERG in Leeds. The Wolfes, Levinsons and Donbergs were extremely close. They all moved to Chicago and lived near each other. I emailed the SAPERIA website contact; he had not heard of this Fanny. There was another Fanny SAPERIA who was b. in 1886 in "Russia," possibly Mariampol and lived in Leeds. They must have been related, UNLESS THIS WAS THE SAME FANNY SAPERIA, and there is an error in one of the sources. I remember Annie, Fanny and Ettie. They all kept their Leeds accents. Fanny always wore her hair in two braids, crossed over the crown of her head. Linda Wolfe Kelley California
