Dear all, I’ve just had some information about a relation of mine – albeit distant. Ernestine ROSE, was born Ernestine Louise POLOWSKY in Piotrków Trybunalski, Russia-Poland. She married an ENGLISH silversmith / jeweller, William Ella ROSE, and lived with him in the UK during the latter half of the 19th Century. There is census information about both of them and they both died in England - he in London, and she in Brighton. Ernestine was a Jewish-Polish atheist, free-thinker and one of the original feminists who lead the way for women’s rights in the USA. It turns out that she was the great aunt of my great great aunt, Anna PULVERMACHER. I would very much like to know if anyone knows anything about her family tree, or that of her husband – or if you are related to her. You can do a search for her details – there are some things about her online that might give an indication of her family origins. I am keen to find out about her because her family line might lead backwards or forwards towards mine, shedding light on the origins of my particular branch of Pulvermachers, who settled in the UK four generations ago in the 1800s (all Jewish, Prussian etc).
