    1. [BRITISH-JEWRY] Where is W. Derby?

    3. A record at UK FreeBMD shows a marriage as being performed in "W. Derby". A grandson of this couple, possibly, states that his grandmother came from Kent. Not being familiar with the English county nomenclature (in fact it confuses the h*** out of me), is W. Derby in Kent? Not sure if this is the right match but this is a first step. 3. Steve, Since no one else has replied, West Derby is I think on Merseyside.  Jeff ----- Original Message ---- From: steven morgan <[email protected]> To: british jewry <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, 21 August, 2010 20:26:13 Subject: [BRITISH-JEWRY] Where is W. 3. There's a W.Derby in Liverpool. Lots of Jewish families were there between 1850s and 1940s + Rachelle steven morgan wrote: > A record at UK FreeBMD shows a marriage as being performed in "W. 3. No, it's in Lancashire. It is part of the city of Liverpool (now Merseyside, but for your purposes Lancashire). If you use Free BMD then you can click on the W. Derby link (or any other) and a pop-up will give you details of where that registration district is/was. Another way to find out about it is to use GENUKI (www.genuki.org) go to England and then there should be a link that says something like registration districts (or civil registration and then districts). This will tell you about the district and where the registers for that district are now housed. HTH Sherry Landa (Viersat, France) > A record at UK FreeBMD shows a marriage as being performed in "W.
