Linda, Thanks for this. > > This is for Sherry Landa and others interested in SAPERIA in Leeds: > Here is the Yorkshire bmb listing for the marriage; it's the only > document that lists this marriage; neither the Rootsweb page nor > JewishGen's supplemental index for Leeds has it: SAPERIA Fanny > LIVINGSTONE Julius Old Central Hebrew Synagogue, Victoria Road, > Leeds, 1901. > SYN4/B/60 It would be, as far as I know the JGSGB don't have the Old Hebrew Shul records any more that I do. If it gor missed off the GRO (or is indexed differently) then Local BMD would be the only copy/index note. > > There was another Fanny SAPERIA who was b. in 1886 in "Russia," > possibly Mariampol and lived in Leeds. They must have been related, > UNLESS THIS WAS THE SAME FANNY SAPERIA, and there is an error in one > of the sources. This is where the problem lies. I have two Fannies in the database and I am not sure which is the one who married Julius (neither was born at quite the right time for yours). I have one born c1881 Mariampol, d/o Myer who was at 37 Cannon St in 1891. Then I have another born c1887 (so would have been 13 in 1901) Poland d/o Jacob. at 41 Gower St in 1901. Myer was 20 years older than Jacob according the the censuses so it seems unlikely it is the same family. Myer also had Abraham Isaac, Sarah & Betsey and Jacob also had Minnie, Isaac, Joseph, Ada, Morris and Hyman. Myer was dead by 1897 when Abraham Isaac married (his address was 27 Cannon St so that might be a mistake and they both should be 27 or 37). Jacob is not listed as deceased when Morris marries in 1920 or when Hyman married in 1925 and they are both living at 51 Stamford St. This is not a family/pair of families I had been chasing in 1911 (yet). I have just looked at Jacob is there with Fanny unmarried which implies that the 1901 data is right and she is not your Fanny. I can't (at the moment) find Myer's family. His widow may have died. One of his daughters MIGHT be boarding with another family-the son and the other daughter aren't visible at the moment. So, we either need the marriage certificate or something else (death/headstone) to confirm the father's name and then we can link people up better. Let me know if you have Fanny's father's name. Best Sherry (Viersat, France)
