Was the letter sent from somewhere near Calcutta? There were refugee camps on the Burmese/India border processing the ones who survived the Burma Trek. Otherwise there were many Japanese internment camps, including those in the Dutch East Indies. Perhaps she was there rather than India. They appear to have been sent by a Polish woman who was living in a camp in India to her son serving in the armed forces, in London. She encloses some Dutch money. We are not sure if the family were Jewish, why the woman was in India and what relevance (if any) the Dutch bank notes have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sherry Landa (Oxford, UK)
