I found another reference to Valivade (Walivade) India from a book "An Unforgettable Journey" by Maria van der Linden which states that "this [Polish refugees'] camp ... accommodated over 21,000 people, including many single-parent families and an orphanage for about 2,500 children. Most families had solo mothers; their husbands were either missing, had died in the USSR, or were serving in the Polish army in Italy. .." The author notes that many of the camp's internees were Roman Catholic. http://www.antoranz.net/BIBLIOTEKA/LINDEN/HTM/L10.HTM Barbara Zimmer Virginia
