    3. Can anyone guide me about ways to access information at The National Archives, in particular records of the Sun Fire Office, at this web page http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/A2A/records.aspx?cat=076-sun_2-0-467&cid=-1&Gsm=2008-06-18#-1 One of the items listed: [no title] MS 11936/467/906078 3 April 1815 Contents: Insured: David Davis, 1 and 2 Field Lane Holborn, clothes salesman is for my ggg-grandfather and would be by far the earliest record I've been able to find for him (or anyone in my family). As I am some distance away (Massachusetts) and almost wholly ignorant of whether/how/when such records are accessible, I would much appeciate any guidance that can be offered by those more informed. (Is this strictly by personal visit, if so are there people who will do this, or can I request a copy from the Archives directly, or ...?) Feel free to reply off-list to me. thanks ------------------------- Randall Davis

    3. Randall, The records are at Guildhall. If you follow the links from the page you gave you eventually get to [email protected] for "distance enquiry service". Send them what you have sent us and ask if they have a research service. They should do, or be able to recommend someone, although it might be pricey. Otherwise you need SKS here (UK) who is going and can spare you some time.
