    3. This is just a reminder regarding the handling of sensitive data. The remit of the list is to research our ancestry. The main focus will therefore be the deceased. However, in researching our past lines we often stumble (by design or chance) upon the living. Please remember that, whilst certain things may be in the public domain, the living have a right to their privacy. Our archives are public and as such accessible to all. In addition, some of the people we find may not want to be contacted and some may be vulnerable. It is important that we bear these things in mind when posting. You are therefore reminded that you are not to post any details of anyone living, on this list, without their express permission. Many list members appreciate offers of others who may be more local or have specialist knowledge, in helping to contact living relatives. However, others do not want to make contact (Sherry has one such first cousin once removed). It is up to posters to indicate if they wish others to help them with this aspect, and then take it off-list to deal with the specifics. It works on an opt-in basis and members are urged to think carefully beforehand about how, where, when living relatives will be contacted and strategies to deal with possible rejection which may come as a result of unsolicited contact with living relatives. If you have uncertainties, then the list etiquette is to email Admin to discuss the issues before posting to the list. Finally, whilst we are talking about etiquette, please remember that you cannot post messages to the list from other people without their express permission and only if you give them full credit. If you want to post a message from someone else, please get their permission and send this to Admin. Please make sure that the message is of interest to a wider audience and that it is within the remit of the list. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation, Sherry & Jackye
