    1. [BRITISH-JEWRY] PHILLIPS - ISAACS

    3. I'm seeking help from people who may have access to records there in England, and who have better talents at all this. Our Great Grandfather Emanuel PHILLIPS was born in Jamaica, 16 April,1841, the son of David PHILLIPS and Catherine ("Kate") Isaacs. Both David and Kate died in Jamaica; David April, 1856, and Catherine, March, 1875. I was told on here of the marriage at the Great Synagogue, in London, 22 Jun 1831, between David PHILLIPS and Catherine ISAACS, two years before their first child, Sophia was born, in Jamaica. So, apparently, the two newlyweds emigrated from England to Jamaica between 1831 and 1833. David and Kate's marriage records show that his father's Hebrew name was Aryeh Shirga Pais, and her Hebrew name was Keila and her father's was Issachar Behr. How to find these two? Finding all four of their parents would be stupendous. David and Kate had four children, all in Jamaica. The youngest, Emanuel, came to New Orleans in 1859, at age 18, and had nine children here, one of whom was my wife's grandmother, Madeleine, born 1878, in Louisiana. I am eager to find more information about these two, David Phillips and Kate Isaacs, including: - where and when they were born, - who their parents were, - when they came to Jamaica, how so, etc. Any tips, clues, help, ANY INFORMATION about the family would be appreciated VERY MUCH. Thanks for any help!! Dan H. New Orleans, La. USA

    3. I have posted this request before, in July of this year, and received some very good ideas from some of you. And, thanks for that. Also, you reported a number of people having similar or the same surnames, etc. However, I want to, here, be very specific with the hope that someone out there may be able to zero in on a solution for me. I am seeking two important items of information: 1. The birth dates and places of Aaron PHILLIPS and Catherine ("Kate") ISAACS, and 2. The names of (and any other info) their parents. David and Catherine were married at the Great Synagogue, in London, 22 Jun, 1831, about two years before their first child, Sophia was born, in Jamaica. So, apparently, the two newlyweds emigrated from England to Jamaica between 1831 and 1833. Both David and Kate died in Jamaica; David April, 1856, and Catherine, March, 1875. David and Kate's marriage records show that his father's Hebrew name was Aryeh Shirga Pais, and her Hebrew name was Keila and her father's was Issachar Behr. You have sent me some people who, when married, recorded their parents as Aryeh PHILLIPS, Aryeh PAIS, and for the fried Issachar BEHR. How many such people would have these names? How can I determine with some certainty that they are the same person? Any tips, clues, help, ANY INFORMATION about the family would be appreciated VERY MUCH. Thanks for any help!! Dan H.
