Dear BJers Every once in a while I actually get the chance to do some more work on my own families. Last night I was using FreeBMD to enter some ALTMAN relatives and discovered something I've never seen before. The second quarter of 1943 listed two Altmans, both with the same mother's maiden name, but the first entry's place of registration was Carmarthen, Wales, and the second was Edmonton, London. How could this be! The FreeBMD entries alerted me to an earlier entry for 1940 for the Carmarthen birth and sure enough, at the bottom of the column was a handwritten entry which listed the full name, volume number and the note "see J43" meaning see the entry for June 1943. I am assuming this latter entry was a delayed birth entry. My point is that while I was quite comfortable seeing a delayed birth registration, I don't recall ever seeing an entry also in the right quarter/year with no registration but a note to see a delayed entry index location. Has anyone else ever come across this anomaly?
