This might be useful. I found while idly surfing, a digitised copy of the survey gazetteer of the British Isles, topographical, statistical, and commercial, compiled from the 1901 census and the latest official returns from the 1901 Census published by John Bartholomew. It's very detailed & comprehensive; easy to read on a laptop (and there are downloads for other machines). I am sorry, but I can't get either of these to work - just get Error 404 (even when combine the 2 line one into one). Many books available online in the US are *not* accessible in the UK, for copyright reasons. This looks like one of them.
