It would never make him rich but usually piano tuners could play pretty well. If there were piano manufacturer's in the area where he grew up then he probably worked for one or more of them as he became known. His descendants did not know he had this trade until I recently found from online records Broadwood in 1902 factory moved to Old Ford, Hackney, perhaps of influence to my uncle.
