Thank you so much for this piece about the Old Jewish Cemetery. The Scholar Isaac Abendana, brother of the Haham Jacob Aendana, may have been an ancestor of mine through the the Abendana line. I know he lectured at Oxford and Cambridge and wonder if there is any trace of his burial in this cemetery or if anyone knows anything about his life in Oxford. If he had any children. I only know a little so everything would be welcome, with best wishes, Louise -----Original Message----- From: Sherry in France Sent: Thursday, July 12, 2012 5:59 AM To: BRITISH-JEWRY@rootsweb.com Subject: [BRITISH-JEWRY] Jewish ancestry in Oxford This might be of interest (thanks to Paul from OFHS list for sharing it originally) http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/9803654.Memorial_marks_city_s_old_Jewish_cemetery/ Best wishes, Sherry Landa (Oxford, UK) Our website is at www.british-jewry.org.uk We update regularly.
