    3. Hello,   I am researching my great, great grandfather, Levy Lichtenstein. Born in Poland (abt 1831) and died in Japan(1896) he lived in Hull, Birmingham and London. I would be very interested to hear if anyone has come across him in their own research. He was connected with the Marcus family (merchants- later antiques dealers) of London (through business) and Simpson Lichtenstein(by birth).   He also had connections with Phineas Lewis (Hull, Birmingham, London) and Samuel Godfrey. I would also be very interested in any information about either of them. From the 1851 census, it would seem they were brothers.   Many thanks for any help you can give me, Becca

    2. Evelyn Wilcock
    3. I am a Marks researcher and my Marks family lived in Liverpool. I have been e-mailed by someone who would like to contact a direct descendant of Leon Marks also of Liverpool who died in 1878 in Liverpool leaving a widow called Esther. Their census entry for 1871 shows Leo Marks a watchmaker was born in Prussia ca 1814 and not a British citizen. His wife Esther was born in London ca 1823 and the same census shows that one of their daughters Amelia married Isidor Berliner born in Russia. My contact has a religious book containing family entries for this Marks/Berliner family and I would be very grateful if you could help me put him in touch with them. Evelyn Wilcock. London.

    3. Hi Cynthia I won't be needing a copy of the Jewish Chronicle obituary notice of October 2, 1903 myself as I also got a very good copy of the full page - via John Simmons, of the BJ list. Thank you John. Incidently, in case there are descendants who read BJ, Rachel Phillips died 23rd September, 1903. Details from the obituary: she was the widow of Simon Phillips [died London 1845] and last surviving child of Isaac Jacobs, of Sheerness; mother of Mrs Charles Davis [Anne], of Maida Hill, John Phillips, of Bradford, and Laurence Phillips, of Notting Hill. Two sons had emigrated to Australia: Asher Phillips, died in Sydney in May 1889, and Morris Phillips, died in Melbourne in October 1905. Morris was my GG grandfather and was not mentioned in his mother's death notice. Thanks to BJ for your help. Best wishes. 3. Hi Just wondered if anyone on this list had any connections to the Morenski / Morinsky (or variants) family. My grandmother was born Sarah Morenski but changed her name to Sylvia Morris. Her family lived in London but according to the 1901 Census, her parents are listed as British Subjects but coming from Russia. My mum was told that the family came from Romania. Thanks for your time.   Yours Roy Hurlstone JP Australia

    3. It doesn't come up in the Index but I found it by searching on Deaths from 1903 and finding the correct (Oct 3rd) edition (albeit dated "null"!) I've sent Terry the info but for some reason no longer seem able to "e-mail for free" - perhaps I exceeded my allocation of e-mails! Terry said someone else from BJ was also going to send him the info, which might be clearer than my transcribed and printscreen version.
