    3. Dear B.Jers Many of you have taken up my cause and I'm grateful to all. One of your number is Angela and at her suggestion I'm going to include in this email a cut and paste from a note she has sent me. She sent me the following and as you see she advises me to keep you updated. " Now for some really exciting news! I knew I ought to have it somewhere and now I have found it - here is Daniel Joel's marriage at the New Synagogue NSM 650a M 1819 [Mar 18] COHEN Elizabeth [Beila bat Mr. Shlomeh] JOEL D[aniel] Dov b. Jacob So you now have the family name for Daniel's wife. With a name like COHEN it will be difficult to take this line further back (!!!) but there may be someone out there who has researched this line who could help. Since Daniel Joel's son Jacob was born c 1825, that suggests that Jacob Joel senior died sometime before that. Although it isn't an absolute rule that a grandfather would have been dead for a grandchild to have been named for him, if often is a clue I have not copied this to the list, but you might want to let them have this new information as it may help someone to help you - which is what the list is all about" My best to all, Ray

The Old Bailey records are from 1769 and 1788 (ref. t17690510-41 & t17780115-10) and the Gazette for May 1813 (ref 16728). The latter Jacob Joel was living in Newport and was a jeweller, shopkeeper dealer and chapman. 3. Hi Louise, I am afraid it doesn't work like this :-) YOU have to check the lists to see if I have all your names and then, if I don't YOU have to fill a form out and send it to me. I am sorry, but you can appreciate that if I do it for you, I'd have to do it for everybody and there are currently over 600 entries there...and I like to eat and sleep and do other things! Best, Sherry Landa (23170, Viersat, FRANCE) I dont know what surnames youhave of mine. If there are any in the following that you donot have on your list, could you update them for me.

    2. Sherry Landa and Russell Johnson
    3. Afternoon, I have received some more surnames to add to the list (this happens every time I announce an update: people suddenly remember and mail me more). I'll hold these until Sunday and then I will upload them so if you have entries you want me to include please email them to me ASAP. Second thing is that it's great that we have had a flood of emails over the last couple of days BUT we are generating a lot of "waste" because we are becoming a bit slack with our snipping (again). This is a friendly reminder that we have a rule which asks you to snip out everything but the pertinent text on the original email when replying to the list. Digest readers find it particularly annoying to see the same email repeated in replies. You know it's one of my personal bug bears which means you also know that if you don't heed this reminder the next one won't be so friendly! That said, have a good weekend. Shabbat Shalom, Sherry Landa (23170, Viersat, FRANCE) NB When replying to this email please remember to remove the word ADMIN from the subject line

    3. Sherry, Ok that's good it crossed my my that it might have been as you suggested a ploy on the part of JC. I'll go back to guessing tomorrow. It is getting close to 5pm now, time for me to call it quits for the day. I hunted around for a copy of Adobe 7 today and downloaded. Why 7 and not stay with 8....Well I thought it just might work better, silly things have been true with software before. 3. Dear Peter, It was interesting to see your letter as I am researching the Abendana family who are cousins and married into the Nunes Martines Some go back together to the Rodrigues Ribeiro family and our joint great great (manytimes) grandparents are Palomba Mizrachi married to RODRIGUES RIBEIRO It is a very complicated family and they are Spanish Portuguese origin. The names are repeated continually and their records can be found in the Bevis Marks Records, Births, marriages, Kutuzov and Deaths and Cemetery records. There are certain members who have fuller trees that I have and I find it all totally overwhelming but wonderful. My great great step grandmother was Rachel NUNES MARTINES who married her cousin RAPHAEL ABENDANA after his first wife Jessie ISRAEL died. Their common ancestor was Palomba MIZRAHI who married a RODRIGUES RIBEIRO. I cannot search at the moment, but perhaps next week will try to look at my books. 3. Danielle, I'm supposed to have Adobe 8, but when I go to the JC site and bring up a search for Zalig and go to the achive and ask for page one the single page comes up with strips missing. I really can't make out what I think would be useful and what might be useful. Sorry to be a drag. Regarding the certificates I'm trying to understand what your intention is. There are some marriages you are not sure of and you are thinking of ordering those and would email me a copy is that correct? Hows the training going? Did I tell what a beautiful photo that was, chaming and nice to see the person I speak now and again.
