    1. [BRITISH-JEWRY] Rosenberg's from 'Rezito'?
    2. Dear everyone, I'm new on this site, and amazed to see how much help you all offer each other. So far I've had nothing to offer - but I am hoping that someone can help with my search for David and ?Rachel Rosenberg. They seem to have moved to London with several children in the 1880's. David was apparently a rabbi of some kind, and died around 1932 in London. The census for 1891 and 1901 shows them as coming from Rezito, variously in Russia or Poland. These are my grandfather Nathan Rosenberg's paternal grandparents. Nathan's father, also Nathan, was also born in Rezito, and died in 1906 before my grandfather was born at the start of 1907. This has created a hiatus of knowledge. My grandfather thought his grandparents came from Lithuania. However, I can't find a record of any town called Rezito in Lithuania or in that border area. Has anyone else come across this name? - or does anyone know the current name of the town? David Rosenberg had other children, but as Nathan was cut-off for making a marriage he didn't approve of, to Annie Benjamin, I know nothing about them. Are any of you descendents of David and ?Rachael Rosenberg of London? I would love to have more information, as I have come up against a complete blank. Many thanks, Naomi Hamilton Edinburgh

    1. [BRITISH-JEWRY] KINSLER/KINCLER - KITTY
    2. Ann Linder
    3. The KINSLER search as it pertains to KITTY KINSLER is concluded successfully. As we are encouraged to share research methods, here goes: What I knew: Kitty and her son & husband were deported from France to Auschwitz. I kinda knew/thought that Kitty was a Kinsler/Kincler but I did not know her married name. I searched for hours each & every female record available that had a maiden name at the website of Memorial de la Shoah & could not find Kitty--because the lists are incomplete and I also did not know that she went by the name of Maya! I posted on French SIG and Eve - that amazing & wonderful & extremely persistent researcher--actually found her--merci beaucoup--confirming that Kitty was a Kinsler. Maya (aka Kitty) & her 2 young boys were deported in 1943. And from the deportation records, I had Kitty's married name, Dawidowicz. Yad Vashem testimonials were another source but her maiden name did not match on the testimonial. Using JewishGen Family Finder, JGFF, I then wrote to 15 genners who had listed the family name of Dawidowicz. Via one great Dawidowicz-connected Brit, Martin, I was able to definitively determine that Maya (aka Kitty) Davidowicz nee Kinsler is the Kitty I was looking for. I'm still not sure how she fits into the Kinsler family however, and may never know. Martin kindly sent me 2 photos of Kitty. You have no idea how thrilled those photos have made Kitty's 86 year old cousin in New Jersey USA. She is very happy indeed as the last time she saw Kitty's face was in 1938 at a family wedding in UK. My KINSLER search for living descendants continues onward. -- Kindest Regards, Ann Florida USA

    3. I don't know whether or not 2nd Rebecca is a relative but am fairly sure that mother's maiden name is as stated below --Kanunya. Have that in her own handwriting from Rebecca's birth certificate. Also have another reference to it on another document. Either Fannie and Amy are not really their children (common during census taking) or they both died early;. I do know Nellie lost several children. Note older Rebecca is listed as a "visitor: not a "boarder" or relative. That often meant she was in house when census taker arrived so she was counted. This census taker was pretty precise and used "boarder" for people and other relative categories on pages before and after. Thanks for the thought though. Anything to make me think more is welcome. 3. I am trying to find the birth, marriage and ancestor history for Nathan [Nokum] Jacobs born abt 1865 and his wife Nelly [Nakka] Kanunya born abt 1865. My grand mother is their daughter Sarah born about 1886. The three of them entered England somewhere between 1886 and 1888. Another daughter Amy was born in England in 1888. The U.K. census reports for 1891, 1901, just show their birthplace as Russia, 1911 says Russia/Poland. Sarah's marriage certificate also says Poland so I am fairly comfortable with that. I can find no immigration records for the three and searches on various Jewish databases including PRI have led me nowhere. There was a son Emmanuel (1895) and a daughter Rebecca (1898) later born in England. I have no problem tracing the family forward from these times but can find nothing on where they came from. I would welcome any ideas, leads or direct information. Thank you. Bob Moss Chicago, Illinois, USA Please do not print this e-mail unless there is a real need for a paper copy.

    3. In doing my genealogy research, I encounter a problem when I need to look up an address in on-line British directories because for outsiders the sites require paid subscriptions. I have traced descendants to 2010 and would like to write to them via postal mail. I have used this method successfully because it "softens" the inquiry from a total stranger and gives the recipient a chance to digest the info. Tried Facebook, but oftentimes my Facebook messages go ignored. Can anyone recommend a UK website on which I can look up a couple of addresses free of charges? thanks as always. -- Kindest Regards, Ann Florida USA

    3. Naomi, these people you mention below do not ring a bell. BUt, that's not surprising. The Isaacs family I'm seeking stems from the marriage of our David Aaron Phillips and Catherine Isaacs at the Great Synagogue in London, in 1831. She is the first incident of an isaacs in our family. I'm eager to find the parents of both of these people. The marriage records state that David's father was Aryeh Shirga Pais, an Catherine's father was Issachar Behr Isaacs. And, that's about all I know! So, any tips, clues, or help would be appreciated! thanks, Dan Henderson New Orleans, La. ---- naomi ogin <[email protected]> wrote: > Dear All > > Lawrence Alfred ISAACS m Florence Gertrude BENJAMIN in 1888. > By 1911, they were living at 99 Priory Road, West Hampstead > with their daughters, Phyllis Miriam, Madge Estrella and > Norah/Norma Maud along with four staff. > Lawrence passed away November, 1913, aged 55. > Not long before this, he was visited by Mabel LEWIS. > In a passenger document she calls him Uncle. > > Do any of their names sound familiar? > > Thanks > Naomi Ogin > Brisbane > > > > > Our website is at > www.british-jewry.org.uk > We update regularly.
